Voting is one of the most important things you can do as an American citizen. Voting is one of the main ways we, as American citizens, have power in our country. It allows us to maintain power and order in our government by deciding on our preferred candidates. If you will turn 18 this year before the 6th of November, go ahead and register. Current 17 year olds who will turn 18 on or before November 6, 2018, may also vote in the May primary if you register to vote by April 23rd.

What Do You Need To Be Able To Vote?

  • To be eligible to register to vote, a person must:
    • be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Kentucky no less than 28 days before the election;
    • be at least 18 years old by the date of the next general election;
    • not be a convicted felon (or, if so, have civil rights restored);
    • not have been judged mentally incompetent in a court of law and have had their voting rights removed;
