Looking to showcase your artistic talent? Well, here’s your chance. A youth talent showcase will be held at the Lyric Theater and Cultural Arts Center on Friday, May 17th at 7:00 pm. Ticket proceeds will go to youth organizations in Lexington.

Dream Lex auditions will be open to middle school and high school students (grades 6 – 12) on March 2nd. Auditions will also be held at the Central Music Academy and the Lyric Theater. The talent categories include:
1. Vocal performances which include singers, rappers, and any act using pre-recorded music without vocals or piano accompaniment in a solo or group.
2. Instrumental performances which are instrumental performances only, no vocal or pre-recorded music is allowed and can be done as a solo or in a group.
3. A solo dance which must use pre-recorded music and must feature a single performer. A group dance which also must use pre-recorded music but must have two or more performers.
4. A comedy act which must be a stand-up style comedy act and must be a solo routine.
5. Theatrical acts which must be performances of comedic skits, dramatic interpretation, etc. and can be done in a solo or group. Poetry/ prose recitation and spoken word which is a reading, recitation, or performance of a written work and can not include pre-recorded or live music.
6. Finally, a variety which is any act that does not fit in one of the other categories.

If special or large equipment is required for your act, you can contact the coordinators using the email listed above, and they will see if they can find a way to fit it into the show. There are also cash prizes of up to 500 dollars, so sign up now to showcase your artistic ability!
