The Kentucky Youth Association (KYA) convention is fast approaching and our peers running for officer positions were challenged to come up with a project that would benefit our community. KYA is a mock debate convention where students from across Kentucky go and debate about Kentucky based topics. Ashley Armstrong, a Freshman running for Lieutenant Governor, has reached out to the Family Care Center, and she is looking for hats, gloves, and scarves. The Family Care Center provides services and help to families and children in need. Currently, Ashley has around 100 different items. Collection will go from Thursday through Friday. Karlee Pryor Thompson, a Junior running for Governor, has decided to collect used clothes for the Children’s Advocacy Center. The Children’s Advocacy Center is a non profit dedicated to reducing and helping the trauma child victims of sexual abuse have experienced. They provide education as well as medical examinations and counseling. She will be collecting them Thursday through Friday as well.
