Rehearsals for Winter Musicals
This year Lafayette’s winter musical is Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This musical is based on the story in the Bible. The dates of the performances are January 23-26, 2020. The times of the performances are 7:00 pm on Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th, 2 pm & 6 pm on Saturday the 25th and 2 pm on Sunday the 26th all in Beeler Auditorium. There will also be school shows at 10:00 am and 1:45 pm on Friday the 24th.
Right now, the cast and crew are in the process of rehearsing for Joseph. The cast has been working on learning the music and dances, while the crew has been figuring out how to make the show look good with props, lighting, costumes, sets and more. The stage manager, Grace Neal, is helping the director, Mrs. Amie Kisling with blocking, which means to work on the details of the actor’s movements in relation to others and the audience. Grace Neal became the stage manager her sophomore year and she is now a senior. She is also giving her own ideas to help improve the look of the rehearsals. Alongside Mrs. Kisling and Grace, Ms. Gorrell, the Intro to Theatre teacher, has also been working with them during rehearsal.
They began rehearsals on October 28th after school. After the first run-through, they worked on the dances and tried on costumes. During this time, the 4th and 5th grade SCAPA Bluegrass kids worked on the opening scene. The SCAPA kids, grades 4-5th, will be kids in the musical, listening to the narrators tell the story of Joseph.
