DEAR ALEX: What Do I Do If I Get My Period During School?
Dear Alex: What do I do if I get my period during school? I have a really heavy flow and can usually bleed through a nighttime pad in two hours.
– Worried
Dear Worried: I am so sorry that your flow is so heavy, and you feel like there is nothing you can do about it. What I would recommend is bringing tampons and pads in your backpack. I would also leave them there just in case of emergencies.
If you run out and forget to add replacements back, Ms. Roberts keeps the bathroom in the Social Studies hallway stocked with feminine hygiene products. You can find her in room 232.
Another option is to talk to a parent or trusted adult about seeing a doctor or gynecologist for help managing your period. There are steps your doctor can take to help you to manage a heavier flow.
Having a heavy flow is something that a lot of people who menstruate can understand. Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends, teachers or other staff because they are happy to help, offer advice, or listen.
I hope this helps!
