Lafayette vs. Madison Central and Game Preview vs Dunbar

Blake Bethune, Sports Editor

This past Friday, Lafayette had a tough match up against Madison Central. They went into a very loud and tough environment, in which they played and fought really hard. They showed amazing resiliency as they were down 15 and came back at the end, but sadly they finished just short with a 63-57 loss. Eric Powell led the team in scoring with 16 points followed by Devontae Hayes who had 13. Ray Surratt led rebounds with 8. Dustin Geralds led the Indians with 24 points and 18 rebounds, Isaiah Cozart also added a triple-double for the Indians.

Lafayette plays Dunbar next, which will be on Tuesday, December 5th! Lafayette expects a big turn out at home, as Dunbar is a big rival and a huge district game! Lafayette is 1-1 and Dunbar is 0-2. Dunbar lost to Woodford County and Bryan Station (who are both undefeated) by a combined 22 points. This start by Dunbar has been very disappointing as they won the state championship 2 years ago. Lafayette played Dunbar twice last year and lost both. But neither of these teams are even close to last years teams, Lafayette has gotten older and acquired some talent from district schools (including Dunbar).  Dunbar has lost some players from last year, but they are still an extremely good team, they’ve just gotten off to a bad start.

Tuesdays game should be an amazing game between two competitive and good teams. It should be a nail biter, that either team could come out victorious. Can’t wait to see everyone out at the game tonight in what should be one to remember!

Lafayette’s starting lineup:

G Evan Dreux

G Fousseyni Diallo

G/F Eric Powell

F Cameron King

C Ray Surratt
