2024 was the year of music, there were so many breakthrough artists that released the music that formed the soundtrack of the year. From “Die With a Smile” to “Not Like Us”, there is so much to recap and review.
The best new artists of 2024 were Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Shaboozey, and Benson Boone. All of these artists released most of the top songs of 2024. Chappell Roan released “HOT TO GO!” and “Good Luck, Babe!”, two of the most popular songs this past year. Sabrina Carpenter wowed everyone with her hit album “Short n’ Sweet”, which featured one of the biggest hits, “Espresso”. Shaboozey dropped the catchy tune, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” which added some fun to 2024. The big hit, “Beautiful Things” was released by Benson Boone, along with his album “Fireworks & Rollerblades”.
2024 was the year of female artists, and this year, singer/songwriter Taylor Swift is on top. She has been thriving since the drop of her new album, “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT”, which she announced at the 2024 Grammys. Swift also closed her two-year world tour, The Eras Tour, this year. The tour grossed an estimated $2.2 billion. Her album has over 1 billion streams, and we can expect her to win many awards this award season.
With no surprise, the top male artist of 2024 is Kendrick Lamar (crowned by Billboard). This past year, he has gone viral because of his rap feud with artist Drake. He also dropped his album “GNX” which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums. Lamar is also going to perform in the Super Bowl LIX (59) halftime show. In April 2025, he will go on tour with singer/songwriter SZA.
This past year, there were so many albums and viral hits, that you can’t even count on two hands. The top five albums of 2024, according to Official Charts, the top albums of 2024 were “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT” (Taylor Swift), “Short n’ Sweet” (Sabrina Carpenter), “Stick Season” (Noah Kahan), “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” (Billie Eilish), and “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” (Chappell Roan). These artists wrote pop hits that gripped the interests of listeners around the world.
At the Grammys there were so many amazing performances, all of the nominated best new artists performed, Beyoncé won Country Album of the Year and Album of the Year with “COWBOY CARTER”. Kendrick Lamar won many awards for his hit single “Not Like Us” including Record of the Year. Sabrina Carpenter walked home with her very first Grammy for Best Pop Vocals with her album “Short n’ Sweet”.
There was so much amazing music released in 2024. During 2025, there are expected releases of long awaited albums from Tate McRae, Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift’s last two rerecords. We are so excited to listen to all of this new music!
