Are you looking for sisterhood? LeadHER is an all-girls club at Lafayette that is open to all grade levels. Lead Her is a club that takes pride in creating a space for Lafayette’s female students to be active in the school and develop lifelong skills. The goal of Lead Her is for upperclassmen girls to give advice to underclassmen, whether that be about college talk, what classes to take, or any other things involving Lafayette. They meet every other Tuesday from 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. in room 237. Lead Her is sponsored by Whitney Walker, a history and geography teacher that prides in helping students.
LeadHER guides girls through volunteering, get-togethers and questionnaires about the near future. This club is an overall space dedicated for girls where they can gain leadership skills through acts of service and be inspired by other girls around them. Rrita Maloku, a senior at Lafayette, added, “To me this club means I still have the ability to further enhance and grow my leadership skills, by being involved and getting to know other girls at Lafayette.” Which is an example of what the club provides to different girls around Lafayette.
So far this 2025-2026 school year, there have only been a few meetings. The meetings cover upcoming events like bracelet fundraising or future topics to be discussed, and occasionally food is shared. One meeting consisted of a “Friendsgiving” where members brought different food items to share with other members in a Thanksgiving setting.
LeadHER has a bracelet fundraiser to raise club funds, which include snacks, field trips to events and additional club expenses. Any money not used by the end of the year is planned to be donated to women’s shelters, and future fundraising plans are to be raised specifically for women’s shelters.
Overall, LeadHER is open and welcoming to any girls interested, regardless of grade. Member Malkou added, “I’m grateful they created this, as I know if I were a freshman, I would have greatly appreciated a space where I can connect with different age groups.” The next opportunity to attend one of these meetings is on Dec. 8th.
