The Success of Dance Blue

Dance Blue

Katy Cornish, Business Manager

Lafayette hosted a mini-marathon for Dance Blue on January 20th, 2018. Money raised for Dance Blue is donated to the Golden Matrix Fund, established to support the kids of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic for current and future needs.

The Lafayette event was six hours long, from 6 p.m. to midnight. There were inflatables, a lip sync battle, line dancing, corn hole and an abundance of food, slides, an obstacle course, and a wrestling ring of sorts. The University of Kentucky’s dance team even came and taught the students a line dance that they repeated every hour.

In the previous years, Lafayette has raised thousands of dollars. Last year, they raised a little over $14, 000. This year, they were estimating to earn $16,000 from a total of donations and sales. However, this year they excceeded their goal and raised over $24,000!  The students were all shocked and ecstatic when the seniors revealed the total at midnight.

Next year, they hope to surpass this amount. Each dollar is truly beneficial to this great cause. Student Council will continue to host these events until someone is able to find a cure.
