March For Our Lives

National outrage has sparked due to the extremely high gun fatality rate so far in 2018. From walkouts, TV interviews with victims, and constant newspaper covers, you can’t escape the issue. Citizens are organizing events nationwide to show the government that students care and that they will unite for what they want. The event “March For Our Lives” is a nationwide, well, march for our lives.

People from all walks of life are coming together to show their passion on this topic and they aren’t backing down until something serious is done about gun violence. New York City, Washington D.C, Chicago, L.A, and even here in Lexington, our nation’s strongest and largest cities will show just how many people care.

The marches are being organized by students from Stoneman Douglass in collaboration with the non-profit organization “Everytown for Gun Safety”.

This movement has grown vastly in size since the shooting at Stoneman Douglass High School on February 14th, which has served as a catalyst for the recent surge in support. Every day more people join the fight for gun control in America.

Lexington’s March For Our Lives event is on March 24th from 4 to 6 p.m. There will be speakers, a march, and a moment of silence to honor the victims of gun violence.
