Welcome to Beta Club!

Joey Corbin, Staff Writer

Welcome to the Beta Club! You’re probably asking yourself, “Well what is Beta Club?” Beta Club is a society that honors students for academic achievement, leadership, and service. Beta Club is open to students who have high overall grades and display school or community service. In order to be invited into the club, your GPA (unweighted) must be: 3.0 for Seniors, 3.2 for Juniors, 3.4 for Sophomores, and 3.6 for Freshman.

“Our motto is ‘Let us lead by serving others’ and we are comprised of students from every walk of Lafayette… By the Spring of 2019 we anticipate our club to reach over 400 students.” – Mr. Emmons (club sponsor)

Beta Club members are expected to attend meetings on the second Wednesday of every month during the school year. They are also expected to do 20 hours of community service per year. There is a one-time fee for national dues. Club members will also be attending the Kentucky Beta Club convention and will organize Lafayette’s Battle of the Bands to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. Freshman will be invited to join Beta Club during the spring of 2019 once they have established their 3.6 or higher, unweighted GPA
