International Tutoring Club

Hailey Hellard, Staff Writer

The International Tutoring Club meets every Wednesday after dismissal from 3:30 to 5:00 in room 205. Mr. Mitsumori, the club’s sponsor, tells us “around 20 to 25 students attend every meeting and we have monthly fun activities planned out by our student leaders”.

The International Tutoring Club starts off the year with a day at the Asbury University challenge course. This course teaches leadership and team building skills. One event the club participated in was a Halloween celebration, where they watched Halloween movies from other cultures, enjoyed food from the cultures they represent, and learned about Dia De Los Muertos. They are looking forward to their Valentine’s Day activities as well.

ITC has game nights with pizza and food from the countries the students represent. Usually the club goes skating and also  bowling together as a group, which is something club members have reported enjoying a lot.

The club has also taken part in multiple community service activities as a group. Member of the club Moses B. said, “I really enjoy being apart of ITC and I think it is a really good club for many people. My favorite thing probably is our activities or community service because it is great to help others out and learn new things”.

The International Tutoring Club is a good opportunity for bi-lingual students to be able to expand their learning and knowledge in various languages and also be informed and learn about other cultures. ITC club is also a great way for students to meet new friends and help out others around them. They have a lot of fun and exciting activities planned throughout the year that club members enjoy. ITC is a great way to be involved with other people, languages, and cultures. Applications are available in the Youth Service Center or in room 205.
