The Kentucky Board of Education has approved the new high school graduation requirements. These requirements would need students to show a basic understanding in reading and math, as well as fulfilling one of the seven qualifiers which are designed to help them prepare for a career or pursue a degree at a university. The math and reading requirements can be met by completing a minimum standard on tests taken in the eighth or tenth grade. “We all need a little bit more math because some of us don’t know [enough] of it, so it’s good” says Ariana Spencer, regarding the new requirements.
