Cult Reviews: Office Space
November 6, 2017
Mike Judge’s 1999 comedy film Office Space, portrays Peter Gibbons, played by Ron Livingston, who hates his job at a software company. While in hypnotherapy, he goes into a blissful state and refuses to work- ironically giving him a promotion. As the company begins downsizing, he and two friends find ways to rebel. In this satire, every aggravating thing about working in an office is told in a highly amusing exaggerated but truthful way.
Every annoying thing about working in a cubical is highlighted, from the annoying secretary, the endless memos on the most insignificant of subjects, the lazy disillusioned guy, and the constant paranoia of who will get laid off next. The plot is hilarious, the characters are hysterical, it’s incredibly raunchy, and it never gets old. If you hate your job, this film is for you. We rate it 9 out of 10.
