Should Service Dogs Be A Part Of The Yearbook?

A big trend the last few months are schools putting service dogs in the yearbook. This makes sense because service dogs attend school with their owner over the entire year, and schools started to realize their importance. Since the owner and other students attend school all year and were a part of the yearbook, why not add the dog? Of course, dogs don’t have a complete choice and probably don’t care if their picture is in the yearbook, but they do stick with their owner and attend all their classes.

Not only are they adding service dogs’ pictures,  there are big changes being made to the yearbook to reflect the culture and times that our students live in. By adding service dogs’ pictures, yearbooks are showing how important the dogs are to not only their owners, but everyone else. Also the school is helping support the kid with the dog by showing them they care. This little change can help everyone feel included,  and, hopefully, that is a trend that sticks around.
