What Happened to the Recycling Bins?

Brynn Deluca, Staff Writer

Recently, students and teachers have noticed their recycling bins have disappeared from the classrooms. Many students have wondered if recycling is no longer a priority for Lafayette. The Lafayette Times spoke with Ms. Lauren Sherrow, the sponsor of the Green Team.

The Green Team lasted nine years with the guarded hand of Ms. Sherrow. They took responsibility for recycling for Lafayette. They would go from class to class collecting the bins from each classroom, providing an environmentally-friendly service to our school. Although the Green Team was an important club and made a wonderful contribution, the time for the club to disband has arrived. Ms. Sherrow stated, “With the increased time needed to recycle  I made the decision to stop the Green Team”.

Sadly with no Green Team, the school has no form of recycling this year.  Miss Sherrow is looking for another club to continue the recycling, so the school can be environmentally friendly again, but has yet to see a group step up to volunteer.
