Coming up Tuesday November 6th the midterm elections will take place. These are the elections in which many Federal, State, and Local elections are taking place. One race being highly debated in this district are the U.S. House seat for District 6.  Lexington is a part of District 6.

The main election taking place is between Amy McGrath and Andy Barr for the U.S. House Seat. Amy McGrath is running for the Democratic party and Andy Barr is running for the Republican party.  There are also other smaller party runners such as Frank Harris, James Germalic, and Rikka Wallin.

For this year’s election, with all of the hot debate going on, many people are planing to vote. Some Lafayette students are of age to vote this year. For many students this is their first real election. This is why this is always such an exciting time of year for many students who are excited to vote.

In school, we learn about the United States Constitution and the rights of the citizens. In Government classes we learn about voting from the day we walk in. All of this learning is finally paying off. Now some of our students have their chance to cast a vote for someone making decisions for them.
