The Lafayette archery team competed in a tournament last Saturday, November 17th at Tates Creek Middle. The team competed against Henry Clay High School, Tates Creek High School, and Frederick Douglass High School.

Lafayette placed first at the tournament, with a score of 3404 and a total of 205 tens. The top four archers from the boys division are Lafayette students Jason Bussell, Cole Murphy, Riley Davenport, and Colin Ferguson. The top archer from the girls division was Ally Smith, another Lafayette student.

The tournament is named the Tommy Jones Memorial Archery Shoot Out after Officer Tommy Jones who was stationed at Tates Creek High School. Before the tournament, students and parents had the option to participate in a memorial walk around a one mile loop around the Tates Creek campus that Officer Jones patrolled. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
