With the school year quickly coming to an end, Lafayette Choir is already preparing for the next school year.

On January 11th, Lafayette choir hosted its annual Choir Invitational. Every year, in order to recruit new members, the Lafayette Choir invites incoming students or students interested in Lafayette Choir to come and spend time with choir members, where they will sing and learn about the choir program. It’s a fun time for everyone, with pizza, door prizes, and many other activities. This is Lafayette choirs’ biggest recruiting effort and many students who attend the invitational end up joining choir.

Each year, the choirs here at Lafayette prepare two songs that are sung with the attending students. This year the two songs were “An Irish Blessing” and “Shout Glory”. Students and guests spend time rehearsing these two songs and have a small performance. In addition, Lafayette’s Chorale and Madrigals give performances to showcase what Lafayette Choir is all about. Featured were soloists Bella Mancuso and Lakekya Washington.

Violet Updike, a student in Lafayette Choir says, “It was really fun to see all the middle schoolers from my old school expressing interest in choir, they’re going to have so much fun in this program!”

Lafayette Choir can’t wait to welcome any new members next year. If you are interested in joining Lafayette Choir, but didn’t have the opportunity to attend the invitational, visit the Lafayette Choir website for more information
