On October 18, 2024, the Lafayette football team competed against Tates Creek High School. “I’m pretty excited about the game. I like great competition,” said Head Coach Jon Lawson. “I feel my players are almost ready.” Players strive to do their best at practice to move through the leveled scale. Coach Lawson also mentioned that the football team practices five days a week.
Football games can get very crowded just with the student section, many students love to go to the football games. Parent sections can also get very crowded because they are determined to root for their kids on the team. The Lafayette cheerleaders and dancers also attend games to cheer and help the crowd get excited for the team throughout the entire game.
The marching band also supports the football team. At the game on October 18th, they played the national anthem and performed during half-time. The Lafayette band is a fantastic band. After their performance, the band left to prepare for their Bands of America performance in John City, TN, on Saturday, October 19th.
During the game, Lafayette took an early lead with a remarkable 26-yard field goal by Sophomore Jackson Grantz. However, Tates Creek responded with a 34-yard pass by Walt Robins, setting the stage for a fiercely contested match.

This was a close call on who would win, but unfortunately, Tates Creek beat Lafayette 46-30.
