On Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, during B4, Lafayette held its annual Powderpuff football game. Something many students look forward to each year. This game isn’t just about which grade will end up on top; It also supports a meaningful cause. Tickets were sold for $5, and all proceeds were donated to DanceBlue to support pediatric cancer research and care. The event gave students the chance to compete, have fun, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
The afternoon began with two matches: the sophomores versus the juniors, and the freshmen taking on the seniors. Both games relied on communication, quick plays, and support from students in the stands. The juniors defeated the sophomores in a close matchup, while the seniors came out on top against the freshmen. These wins advanced the juniors and seniors to the championship game, while the sophomores and freshmen met in the losers’ bracket. The Scores were not displayed during the game, with the scoreboard staying a jokingly “6 7” the whole game, but the referees kept track and announced the winners after each game. Music played during parts of the game, keeping the energy high on the bleachers.
The championship match between the juniors and seniors was long, tough, and competitive, with both teams showing determination and teamwork. In the end, the juniors earned the victory, marking one of the first times in recent years that the seniors did not take first place. The juniors claimed the title of 2025 Powderpuff champions. The sophomores got third place after defeating the freshmen. This year’s Powderpuff games showed friendly competition and showed class pride. Each team showed effort, strategy, and sportsmanship throughout their games. Making it a memorable event for everyone involved. Students left proud and excited. Either from the win or since it was getting closer to Halloween night.
