The Nest is an organization that provides a safe place with counseling, financial support, education for women, children and families in times of need. The Nest operates to aid families in all types of crisis situations; financial, physical/sexual abuse, etc. The organization is largely supported by donations.

At Lafayette, the Y-Club is contributing to this cause by running a donation program. The Y-Club is a student leadership program that teaches community strength and leadership skills. The program encourages letting the participating students lead, which allows for student opinions and actions to really be heard. This donation program was strongly supported by the Y-Club members, and they are happy to join in helping this family program.

Across the school, there were bins to place your donations from February 22 to March 8. Possible donations included bathroom amenities (toilet paper, soap, body wash, shampoo/conditioner), feminine hygiene products, baby body care (wipes, diapers, soap), toothbrushes/toothpaste, etc., along with toys, clothes, and baby equipment. These items should be new or gently used. These donations will help the recipients of the program immensely, as some of them are unfortunately in need of basic life necessities.

The donations are just a small contribution to what we can do here at Lafayette to help the less fortunate in our community.
